Need Immediate Help Picking The Right Size And Model Fastskin Body Suit

I am 5' 9" and 160 lb. I have a long torso for my height and the large fits me fine. Try to find a good swim shop near you,they should let you try suits on. I always want my suit dry before the race. They hold tiny bubbles in them for awhile making them slightly more bouyant and slightly lighter. The difference isn't much,but every .01 sec counts. I find my knee lenghth body suit is faster by at least 1 sec. per 100 free and fly,but is actually .5 sec. slower per 100 *** for me ,compared to Fastskin jammers.

The Male High-Neck Kneeskin body suit is perfect for IM and breaststroke. There is much more room arround the shoulders than the previous S2000 suits. The large size is probably correct for you. These should be very tight when put on. My Male High-Neck Kneeskin body suit takes 10 minutes to pull up. Since I believe in warming up again 15 minutes before my big race, I get the suit wet. Some people say they should be swum in dry, but after a few seconds they will be wet so what is really the point? You are correct, you do not want the ankle length. I usually just let it drip dry after soaking it in some woolite. They dry fast. Extra large is probably too large for you, someone 6'2' 215 perhaps. I feel the suit is worth half a second in a 50 ***, perhaps a full second in a 200 IM. At $236 you might be better off getting a fastskin II knee length jammer for your first meet in 18 years. These should be less than $100 at Nationals.

Thanks Gull 80, Allen, and Breastroker (Wayne) for your very valuable input!......Your remarks are much appreciated as I know very little about the new high teck swim wear thats out there these days (it's a different world than the one I remember way bak when!!).....I wish I could find a store to try on a couple first but I live in a small town.....I "probably" would have to go to at least as far as Memphis (which seems to be large enough to find a good swim shop with the body suits) in order to try some on first....My problem is that I am a little on the chubby side for my height....Allen and Gull 80 are both around my height but y'all are both considerably lighter than me (and I'm guessing not as thick around the midsection)....Sounds like I have a similar chest size (around 40 - 42 inches or so I think??) and a similar neck size (at least compared to Gull 80).....My understanding is that the fast skin II body suits are less restrictive (i.e. tight) around the chest and neck than the original fastskin body suits...Is that correct? I have also read reports that the fastskin body suits are best for 50's and 100's....and that a 200 may be the "limit" before they become less bouyant and actually start decreasing bouyancy (the reason given is that as they soak up water during the course of the race they loose bouyancy).....It would really be nice to have about 3 or 4 of these body suits so that you can put on a fresh dry suit for each race you swim in a day.....and maybe a pair or 2 of fastskin jammers for 200's or longer.....Too bad I'm not loaded....Hey Wayne...didn't you say you were a supervisor for some multimillion dollar powerplant? ....How bout throwing a couple mil my way? (j/k of course!!)......My last question has to do with the possibility of purchasing a second hand body suit that is still in good condition...(unless that sounds to gross if you know what I mean!)....Sounds like there are some swimmers out there that have bought and tried out one of these suits but didn't particularly care for them (and quite possibly are stuck with them even though they only used them once or twice)....If this is the case, let me know and I'll try negotiating a fair second hand price for a large Fastskin Highneck Kneeskin suit (preferably a Fastskin II)....Or maybe someone knows someone else who wants to get rid of thiers??......Please let me know. I think I am going to stick with a Fastskin Jammer for my meet on April 9th and 10th....then I will think about acquiring one of the body suits (new or slightly used) sometime between then and Nationals. Please send me a PM if you want to negotiate....(I can't gaurantee that I will neccesarily buy your suit but I will give it very serious consideration if the price sounds reasonable enough and you can gaurantee me that you don't have some nasty rash problem or somethin similar). I wear the legskin--the Fastskin I is on sale for $50 at Speedo.com (body suits are selling for $100, a big discount). Sizes and colors are limited. Speedo can ship overnight. I found the large high neck Fastskin too restrictive around my shoulders and neck. I'm just under 6 feet, weigh 150 lbs. with a 32 waist, 40 chest and 151/2 neck. On the other hand, one of my teammates, who is about my size, was very happy with the suit. However, he's a triathlete and has done a lot of swimming in wetsuits. I'd suggest you try a Fastskin I first before investing in the Fastskin II.

Thanks again for all of the help and advise from all of you....I just purchased one of two remaining Male Fastskin I Highneck Kneeskin body suits (sleevless) from the Kiefer On line store....It was on sale for $100.00 and it was one of the last ones in stock (for that special sale price)....I would recommend visiting the site soon if you want some good bargains (they have other fastskin suits currently in stock that are also very cheap there as well)......I ended up using the size chart and the advise of the customer representatives there (and other advise together with the comments I read here) .....and finally decided on the XL size for the fastskin I siut.....I have a 34 inch waist (semi-thick midsection) and that's what made the difference between the L and the XL....Since I'm only 5'11'',... I got the XL as opposed to the XL-Long....(which is for people who are slightly portly like me ...only over 6 ft tall....like 6'2'' or 6'3'')......One thing I like about the fastskin I body suit sizes is that they have more size choices than what I have seen so far for the fastskin II suits.....I haven't seen Long sizes verses regular sizes for those anywhere??......You can get a fastskin I body suit in L or L-Long.....XL or XL-long,....or....XXL or XXL-Long......Also how can you beat the price!....the fastskin II body suits are still a little too pricey in my opinion...but if your a rich doctor or powerplant manager or something like that (or lawyer like Fred!)....then yaeh, by all means go for the very best...but us poor folk have to take our bargains where we can find them......I'm so psyched about my new fastsskin body suit!!.....The psychological effect alone will be a huge boost for me!.....Now it's down to whether or not to wear it before my first meet just to try it out....or wait untill my first event and go totally virgin style...(as Jim Thornton put it in the other thread about fastskin suits here)....I think it's like waiting to open a Christmas present until Christmas morning....I'm sure I will cheat just a little and swim a 50 or so before the meet....How could you not???
