A study reported in this month's Journal of the American College of Cardiology showed that rats who previously swam six days weekly for seven weeks (90 min. sessions) had smaller scars and better heart function (compared to couch potato rats) when given an experimental heart attack.
The article didn't mention whether they used kick boards, which are of course evil, but I believe they were unshaved.

They actually made a bunch of rats into a Masters team?:p:o
As for choice of attire, I think they had on a natural (and furry) full body suit.
Does a rat get any additional propulsion from its tail?
And did they compare early vs. late blooming rats? How about swimming rats vs. noodling rats?
And didn't Tom do a similar experiment with a Moose and a clown?
I'm sorry, I just couldn't resist.
