There are several places like that around here. One is called "Lightning Fast" Their claim is "We Turn Athletes into Champions" Their web page is www.lightning-fast.com. They work with kids through professionals (they claim on their web page that they have worked with Brian Westbrook of the Philadelphia Eagles).
I know a lot of people who have sent their kids to them.... including my son. He needed to drop 15 pounds one summer to be able to play football in the fall (a weighted pop-warner league) and he definately had the pounds to lose. He asked if he could go because some friends of his had. I went and watched a couple of the workouts they did with him. It was all structured towards his age - no bulky weights or anything like that. And they put him with young instructors so he didn't feel like a dinosaur was helping him. He did drop the weight - three days a week over the summer.
I think these places can be helpful, but make sure you check into the place first. We heard a lot of good things about this program when we asked around.
