I am new to this site, and wanted to see what speeds everyone is here. I generally find myself in the fast lane at Masters practices, but I wonder if I'm swimming with people who are not that fast! Generally, I do a set of 10x100 (for example) on 1:20. I usually get 3-5 seconds rest doing those. I haven't competed in any Masters meets yet, but would like to this winter. My time for the 1000 (swimming it during practice, all out) right now is 13:36. Oh, I am female, 29 years old. I am glad to be back in the water after being out for about 4 years during grad school. But boy, do I feel slow!!

Comparisons, upswim? I'll show you mine if you show me yours! :) Oh, wait. You already did... OK. I'm 46. Male. (Gonna be a grandpop in March!) If I were to go on 3-5 seconds rest, I'd probably settle in at about 1:30. I can swim for thousands of yards (at least 4000) nonstop at a 1:30 pace. At that pace I do 1000 in exactly 15 mins, but to save my life I could probably keep up with you at 13:36. Prolly wouldn't have much left in me after that though. I can still break a minute in 100 free. Maybe even hit :58. I don't have the best recovery rate, though, so I can't do too many of those in one day.
