(I somehow lost my post in the middle of reviewing it--sorry if this ends up posted twice! Now let's see if I can remember what I wrote.)
I was talking with a friend about swimming and she said she started "swimming for life" x number of years ago. I got the sense that she meant that it was more than a good workout--it kept her "alive." I have to admit that it has that kind of effect for me, too. At the risk of sounding too new-agey, it's nourishing in more than a physical sense.
What does swimming mean to you? How does that compare to other sports or activities you do? How does that meaning influence your goals and performance?
Oh No! My swim is all done!
The next part is not any fun,
Showering, Lathering, Rinsing,
Have to hurry! I've got to run!
Oh No! My locker is so stuffed!
Getting things out safely is really tough!
Plopping, Falling, Dropping,
I have had enough!
Oh No! Now I've got to put on the jeans!
Dressing is so hard when you are wet, You know what I mean!
Pulling, Tugging Snapping,
Out I go now! There is someplace else I have to be!

Cool song Sonic Swimmer! I could almost feel the music that goes with that as I read it....(even though I have never heard the music of that band before). Do you got any others?

Excellent!....I can totally relate to that one...especially the part about racing the old ladies (or men)....If you don't have anyone to race against you have to make up little competitions in your head to push yourself sometimes....like "how many times can I lap that one before he or she finishes 150 yards".....I also like the part at the end about anyone who gets in the lane next to me I will race You!!.....Yes!! I am ready to race!!...But how do I find your pool?...(Idaho may be a little far out of my way though!)

Right on Swimmy!! I know exactly what you mean! I usually do this into my classes and then people look at me like I'm crazy when I walk in dripping and my clothes are sticking to me!

It's on my skin
It's in my hair
It's in my car
It's in the air
My bathroom smells
My bedroom too
It will probably rub off
If I shake hands with you
It lingers and hides
It stays out of sight
It won't come off if I scrub
Even with all my might
I'm used to it now
And I really don't care
Actually it's kind of comforting
Just knowing that it's there.

Hmmm?? Well that certainly makes for an interseting visual I suppose.

More Hmmm?....I am feeling a certain obligation now to set this little "situation" straight here.....It's time to show little seagurly who's the boss around here!!...(Just kidding of course....plus you wouldn't humiliate a poor feeble old man like me now would you?....it's bad enough to go through life with the head of a giant green fish!)

HAHAHAHA!!! Yes, it's quite entertaining to walk into class sometimes. Get some strange looks...so I just look back like they are crazy for not being wet.
As for the feeble old man thing...well, I do race the old guy in the lane next to me. True he doesn't know but still. I would race you anyway..and besides you have a fish head..meaning gills so you don't have to breath so you have an advantage. So we're probably evenly matched.:D
