It sounds like Masters swimming is an adult thing? I want to join a club or something with instruction (coach) badly, but the only one near my area I've heard about is a club costing $120+ a month!! Could anyone shed a little more light on this?
If you check in another posting, the original poster is 14 years old. I don't think--even with a wide stretch of the rules--that 14 years old qualifies for a masters team.
I know few 14 year olds (even with today's parents) who will be able to spend $120 a month of their money (the kid's) to swim.
$120 was not for Masters, but rather for a city team, called CRAA. I doubt that we have Mast ers team anywhere around and doubt I am eligible. I will swim for school but that's quite a ways away and I really want to train FOR that.
Go to:
www.lornet.com/.../
There are links there to many clubs. My US geography is next to useless (but ask about the WORLD...) so I have no clue if any of these clubs are anywhere near Cedar Rapids (other than CRAA). Call the PoCs. If you REALLY want to swim (and sounds like you do), many clubs will offer "scholarships" but you have to ask. Also, sometimes, club fees can be offset by additional volunteer work.
Don't give up -- keep looking. You could also try the USA Swimming site:
http://www.usaswimming.org/
it is heavy on resources for swimmers.
Good luck
Where do you live? There are over 500 masters teams throughout the United States. In northern California there are over 100 teams. One may meet your needs.

$120 / month ???? Seems extremely expensive.
If there is no master's team in your area, you may also look into joing a club team. There's no master's team here so I swim with the local club team - no problems
