I still think skipping the relay disses your team and does create a potential problem.
This would be the 4x100 relay that left out the fastest sprinter in the world?

Reese making a Texas relay has got to be one of the most preposterous assumptions I have read on here and that includes Ion quotes from the past.
Give me a break!
I'm not overly fond of being lumped into a category with the nameless one but if that's the opinion, I'll take my lumps.
However, please do check your facts. You'll find examples of coaches pandering to their own athletes in the Olympics. It's clearly not preposterous and actually rather well known. Basketball is certainly the prime example - check out the '76 team.
I think what's equally laughable is the assumption that coaches don't favor their own when the Olympics is full of examples.
Sam, I think the Speedo needs to be a size larger, we are just hyptothesizing about things.

I find it ironic however, that if Ion was still involved in this forum, I think him and Geek would be in agreement on this one!
Yeah, but supect it would be very short lived though as we'd soon be hijacked into the late blooming V02Max shampoo discussions.
I can still take him in a clown suit in the 1000.
I imagine some people will hold this against Hall (both his lack of conformity on the warm up outfit, resistance is futile, and his behavior at the relays). Many of our greatest athletes have some bad moments. I still think he's a pretty remarkable guy and will give him a break.
Arm - that's a good post.
As long as US Swimming is more obsessed by the warm up suits than in promoting the sport, we will be relegated to this type of discussion, not about how we can watch swimming more than once every four years.
I like a good rivlary which is why I know Texas isn't burnt orange but watered down orange, mixed with pink.

Swimming needs a major kick in the trunks if it doesn;t want to fall further victim to title 9 and the bigger sports.
WHOA there! That is a very unfair remark that I just can't let go. I think many women who benefitted from title 9 would disagree with your statement. I know this is off topic but I had to point out that you can't make a broad statement like that. Blame it on football, but not on female college athletics!
Your comment was about this year's Olympics. If we are going to change to 1976 basketball I am sure you have a case (I have no idea), my response was to your claim of a burnt orange bias this year...
