I'm curious about the relative popularity of the freestyle and individual medley events in terms of which ones people train for and enter in meets.

I like IM. The variety is great. 100 is too short - you don't get to make a turn and continue with the same stroke. 200 is ideal, but 400 is ok too.
I figure a good IM is the best way to tell who is the best "all around" swimmer.:)
