I am curious to what your preferences are regarding Speedo or TYR products (or other). I myself am a Speedo girl, and always have been. However, I recently bought a discounted TYR reversible suit for practice and it lasted way longer than any Speedo ever has. I'm tempted to buy TYR again, but do I dare switch loyalties? I like Speedo styles better - I've never been big on brand names at all, except when it comes to swimming - there's just something about Speedo.
Hi Chickadee,
Are you going to be diving in (aka competing off blocks)? If so, the wide straps are really more supportive. My thin-strap suits have a bit more give when diving.
That said, I definitely prefer the thin straps for practice because I get fewer 'swimsuit hickeys' from the thin straps. On distance free sets, the thick straps tend to rub my neck.
If you look at the thin-strap polyester/endurance suits, make sure you try them on!! They tend to fit a lot differently than the lycra ones and some are cut really low up top. Also, look for sales! Girls suits are dang expensive, usually over $60 for a new style, but last season's styles can be had for a lot less. Good luck. :)
