Immediately post your meet times on this forum from 8 months after you started 16 years ago. That will really put this all into perspective. Oh, yeah, speaking of perspective. I keep forgetting.... I bet Ion never had to battle with and overcome being 100 pounds overweight in his 20's.

Didn't you pay attention? I've said repeatedly it's comparing apples and oranges. It's not you and me. It's you competing in your class, I compete in mine. Say what, Brian Godell is in your age group, beat him. You racing against him would be much more of a fair race that you racing against me. Afterall, you do claim to be world class athlete.

I'm too busy working on *all* of the strokes and getting to my NQT's to worry about racing you. I'm not deviating from my goals because of some 'un-intelligent' abR.R.asive - whatever you are. If you ever turn into a girl in my age group, I'll race you.
  • Swampygeek - now that's funny, Ion. It's almost as comical as the alleged theories of V02Max and early bloomer you hold onto like a precious gem. Just out of curiosity you've been asked a few dozen times in this thread to provide your own support and have yet to do so. When can we expect it? For the record, you can even include the conversation you had with a vet. And, in response to what you will write back: No, I don't swim the 1000 but might in the next few weeks. No, I will not give you late bloomer names I swim with. In America we call that privacy. In your communist heritage it's referred to as mandatory.

This: Originally posted by Conniekat8 ... Once I get to the best shape I can be in, I'll have Ion for breakfast! :p which was posted earlier. I think that consistency is not your forte. Rememeber that in this thread you posted also that you are not interested in a discussion about late bloomers, but you did it anyway. As for the merit of: "...Once I get to the best shape I can be in, I'll have Ion for breakfast!..." like I wrote before in this thread, this is mainly the song of the USMS chorus, from East to West.

Since there is only a 40-44 age group (and not one for "late bloomers") and you are nowhere near the top of that RECOGNIZED age group in the 1000, that must mean that despite your best efforts, you too are not in shape and therefore singing that chorus as well. Whatever it is you are doing is not working in the RECOGNIZED age group standings, so the recommendation still stands: pay significantly more attention to technique, diet and mental prep and you will see results. Think less, swim (smarter) more.

I am near the top, Bertone. Just consider all the USMS, or if you wish all the men 40 to 44 in USMS. See? Top.

Ion, Connie is doing a 1:18 after only 7 months of swimming. That is pretty darn good. Perhaps you need to compare yourself to your peers. In a tiny little masters meet in Illinois, here are the times for the 4 men IN YOUR AGE GROUP for the 100 free. 51.62, 55.32(whoops that's a fly time), 57.44, and 1:02.66. Connie will drop a lot of time, I would not bet that she won't get faster, and faster than you. Instead of insulting your fellow "late bloomers" you should applaud there efforts and their improvements. Something they would do for you if you were less caustic and concerned that you be considered the best! And I will give you this, your 1000 would have won your age group in same meet. Course there was only one man.

I'm in it No, I didn't read the article, but I will have to check it out. Calorie counting - ugh. I can do well for several weeks and then bad for several weeks. My sweet tooth can really kick into high gear sometimes.:(

Didn't Connie say she has been swimming for a year or two as opposed to Ion who has been swimming for many years? Wouldn't that lead to a big difference too? I don't think that either of them swam as kids.
