I am in no way affiliated with these people, just passing along what might be helpful information for you folks in the DC/Maryland/VA area who wear Speedo suits.
Today I bought several jammers at the Speedo store on M Street in Georgetown for $13 and $19 each. The store is going out of business and clearing out their stock. They have a lot more womens' suits left than mens' suits, but there are still quite a few mens' suits on the racks. They don't have any accessories left(goggles, etc.), but they still have swimsuits, warmups, jackets and t-shirts.
Currently everything is at 50% off the marked price, and much of the inventory is already marked down. Hence my $30 jammers for $13 and a pair of silly beach trunks for $7. The clerk said they may go to 70% off as they approach closing, which will happen whenever everything is gone. They will not accept cash at this point, only credit cards, and they say all sales are final. No returns, because the store won't be there.
Considering how quickly some of us go through suits, it's kinda nice to get a big discount and stock up. I now have suits stockpiled for the next two to three years.
Just thought some of y'all might like to know.

The Speedo store in La Jolla is having a similar sale. I stopped in thinking about stocking up, but the men's selection had already been picked pretty clean.
I guess business hasn't been too good, but considering their in-store prices were never very competitive I'm not surprised.
Speedo Authentic Fitness stores nationwide are closing. Speedo is downsizing to a wholesale and web-based retail business. About a month before each store closing, the merchandise in that store goes from 30% to 50% off, and then in the last week or two, it goes to 70% off. When it goes to 70% off, the store clears out in a day or two (so if you want something, you might not want to wait until this point). Here in LA, the Century City store closed in January, and the Santa Monica one is closing in March or April (can't remember -- SM store was still at 30% when the CC store closed). I hit the CC store a few times when it was 50% off (went during my lunch breaks so had limited time and Had to go back) and then was lucky enough to go the morning it went to 70%. The next day, the store was almost empty. (Okay, I admit to going six times in two weeks....) I won't be needing suits, goggles, sweatshirts, caps, shorts, backpacks, gym clothes or sandals for a couple years, at least.... Some of the stuff I got was already on sale, so 50-70% off the sale prices left me paying $10 for some suits, $2.50 for board shorts (got them for everyone I knew), $12.50 for really nice women's hooded sweatshirt jackets....
The polyester/nylon suits will last forever. The string is more likely to fray than the suit fall apart.
I agree on lycra. Feels great the first few swims and then wears out quickly. And, when lycra goes, it really goes.
Jerry Cat there is a Speedo Authentic Fitness in Beachwood, OH near Cleveland. I bought some stuff there 2 years ago. The address is 26300 Cedar Road Beachwood, OH 44122 and the phone is (216) 595-9817. Call them and maybe they will tell you of a store that is closer.
I'm tired of paying between 45 and 60 bucks for a suit that lasts only 3 months. I need a source of less expensive prices, but quality suits. If you have any other tips or places to check out--please share.

Why not get a nylon suit? I got one back in October? and it's lasted til now with only fading colors. I was given a nylon suit that was 10 years old about a year ago and I still wear it all the time. That new Lycra stuff is crap.
I order my suits thru Kiefer, the local stores don't have my size and they are still good shape 6 months later. On this masters site Kiefer adversites. So, do online or over-the phone like I did or send in an order form. They have several brands.
I've thought about doubling up on suits to make them stretch a bit longer in wear--but I hate the drag. I never trained in drag suits, and it always feels like I'm worn out early and I can't finish my workouts...hardly worth it in my opinion, and the drag probably won't do THAT much good anyway.
so, a new suit is in order!! (unless the whole pool wants to see my butt, of course--not!)
