As some of us are in the middle/end of training for Late march early April meets, I thought I would post an accomplishment that I achieved yesterday and I want to encourage others to to so.
Yesterday I swam 16 x 100s (meters) on 1:25 - by myself - and completed every 100 in less than 1:20. I did the 1500 in 21:09 (including the rest), which is almost a top 10 time. Not bad for a drop dead sprinter.
cool,how d,ya do 1500 that quick?im personally trying to achieve 25 mins(currently 31mins)i do free and kick turns...train twice(used to be 3)times per week
Today I swam 10 x 100's (yards) on 1:20--first time in 25 years, I think.
Lefty, will you be swimming at the Sugarland meet in March? My father lives in Houston and competes in the 80-84 age group. I thought it would be fun to enter the meet with him. He swims a 1650 in 44 minutes (no flip turns).
Yes I'll be at the Sugarland meet! I have been training alot harder the past 2 months and hope to do well. IT should be a well attended meet, and I am sure that the pool is excellent.
Doing 10x100's on 1:20 is great. That is where I was 3 weeks ago. Something clicked recently and I have been swimming faster.

Speaking of drop dead sprinters, I see that Gary Schatz is swimming with CyFair--in my age group. He was legendary when I was in college.

There's a meet in Raleigh May 1-2. Meet information will be posted this week most likely. We'd like to see you there. Swim your 10x100 in the form of a 1000 Saturday morning!

Fritz,
Thanks. I've already made plans to attend. I'm taking my daughter to see Shania Twain Saturday night at the RBC Center for her birthday. I hope I can stay awake for the concert (after swimming the 1000).

Back in the dark ages as an age group swimmer, I remember watching Gary do a go - home challenge in workout. He pushed a sub :45 100 free and the coach ended the practice.

Was that at the Dad's Club?
I swam at Dad's....'78-'80. Rob Orr was coach and then some short man whom was a (%&*^&5). Skip Kinney (sp?) was coach before Orr I think.
Anyone I know out there swam at Dad's then?
The old Dad's Club (now Westside) indoor pools I think are going to be demolished because Houston just seems to keep growing...and why someone wants to be there I don't know.
