Howdy! I just formed a Masters group on San Juan Island, WA. We swim in a 25 yard pool and the first and only meet we've attend was also in a 25 yard pool. The next meet on the horizon is in a 25 meter pool. I'm looking for some help in converting our seed times from yards to meters. Is there an easy calculation to help with this? Thanks - b
The conversion between short course yards and meters is pretty simple since the number of turns is the same. Since 1 yard = .914 meters, simply divide your time in yards by .914 to get the sc meter equivalent.
For example, a 2:10 would be 130/.914 = 142 seconds = 2:22.
The only other factor to consider is since a meters race is 9% longer than a yards race, there will be some additional tiring. You might want to add on a second or two to the meters time to account for this.
