I don't know if its my least favorite stroke but its the stroke I'm the worst at, Backstroke. Anyone elses least favorite stroke or the worst stroke.

Ironically when I first started swimming laps I could only do backstroke because of breathing problems with the other strokes. I found learning to swim at 32 the breathing was very unnatural. However now that I have somewhat mastered my breathing problem, I hate being on my back. Feels odd. I also swim backstroke like a drunk driver drives a car...weaving all over.

Well, it seems a lot of breaststrokers are bad at the back. And its true that the Europeans teach *** first. My first coach on a novice team was one of the top breaststrokers in Holland during the 1940's.

My least favorite stroke(s) are the three deadly S's... backStroke, breaStroke and freeStyle. These 3 strokes really tire me out. I am much more comfortable and relaxed swimming butterfly. For me, fly requires the least amount of physical effort to swim. In fact, I will often swim fly as a cool down.

Slow fly isn't hard to swim either. Some people just have problems in the fly.

Anyway, for you people who like fly but can't stand ***. There has been only a handful that have made it in nationals and worlds or olympics in both strokes. Most flyers develop into freestylers and more today with the dolphin kick in back develop into backstrokers.

Breaststroke is absolutely my least favorite. Besides being slow, my kick is asymmetrical and illegal, I'm sure. Fly, though exhausting for me, may be my favorite. One tip that helped me with fly technique - if you can see your hands enter the water, it's too late. Your head should already be leading into the next stroke. When you see photographs of great flyers, the full view of their face includes their hands still at or behind their shoulders. Kathy

For me it has to be the Butterfly. I work on it from time to time but it and I just don't agree.
