HI Gang!
So, I accidentally had a month out of the pool...and boy do I stink now! It's really too bad 'cause I was cranking out those 200's and 400's like nobody's business. Now I feel as though I could drown on a 50!
Do you guys have any advice on how I can get back to speed?
Spanks! er I mean, Thanks!

just take it steady...a month or so and you'll be fine...keep at it...good luck....
jerrycat,
The very same happened to me today, except that I had a shorter hyatus (only 2 weeks). I've experienced the same problems, i.e. I was barely holding my breath on a 400 medley, and my heartbeat was skyrocketing during the fly's drills. :D
the thing is one should always keep it steady, and practice.
practice is the only way to succeed.
peace....
Went through the same thing recently. I was cranking out 2700-3000 mixed strokes, drills, kick, etc with no problem. Then went about 4 weeks where I only got in the pool 3 times. If figured I would just jump right back to the level I was at. HA!
I did about 1000 and was more fatigued then when I did the longer swims. :(
One good thing - I got back to where I am now (2600 today) a whole lot faster than I did from scratch a year ago. A few weeks was all it took. Like anything in swimming, you just have to work at it.
