400 IM - true measure of ones "swimming" ability. Absolutely. 200 fly - true measure of ones ability to absorb and tolerate pain. Both during a swim and prior to it. Just thinking about it gives me pain. I, too, would hope that Ion has not been 86'd from the forum for any length of time whatsoever. Again, if someone disagrees with a post, just don't go there! I can not fathom why someone would complain about someone elses post and then go back to see what might have been posted later by the person they are complaining about. What's up with that? Leave the qualifying times alone. If you want a small meet, stay home and compete locally. The times still count towards the stuff that counts.

Oh, and for TI, I was such a believer when I came back to swimming...but now, the only take aways are pressing the chest in the water, and front quadrant swimming. the rest, I'm not touching with a 10 foot pole. Especially the part where it's recommened to enter the hand near the goggle, and then extend to the wall. :rolleyes: Puhlease...recipie for injury.

I'm just amazed I haven't been booted after some of the things I've said about the noodlers. I don't want Ion back. I'm sorry, I just don't. He added nothing to this forum. That's my opinion and not shared by many, it appears.

I don't know if my USMS dues support either this site or this forum. If they do, I'm fully supportive of his prohibition, although I do enjoy yours greatly.

Gosh, I for one hope and Pray that someone was NOT kicked off this forum. Although I sometimes felt some of the posts were a good bit off center, I strongly believe in the right to free speech, dialog and the expression of a persons thoughts…regardless of how far of base they may be or have been. Boring….? This forum is many things…. but boring is not one of them…..

I was kicked off the forum in August for about 2 weeks and I am pretty sure that Ion has been temporarily removed too. Not sure what the admins are trying to protect by doing this, but I am sure that they have their reasons. Probably the same reason they threatened to remove any political post. Oh and regarding whether this forum has become boring: Probably not the best word, and I thought that as soon as I posted. But the discussions clearly have been less exciting the passed few weeks.

Lefty, you bad boy! What on earth did you do to get booted off for a few week vacation? Sounds a bit stern..... Gosh, I have read a few rather heated (and been a part of one or two) posts but never heard of anyone getting the boot. So, are we to call you Lefty Dillenger now???? :D

At the time of the Afganistan invasion there was lots of passioned, entertaining, and witty discussions (if I say so myself) on this formum. In my opinion it belongs in the *all time USMS discussion Hall of Fame*. I have never found a political discussion on an internet forum besides this one that wasn't overwhelmed by jerks, so I think this more recent stringent restriction on political debates is a shame. There were some posters that complained, but the number of respondents indicated that it was of significant interest and entertainment. Why the theme organization of this site can't be used to create a political-discussion getto I don't know, and I still don't understand why people should be upset about it. I would like the administrators to discuss what they consider a political discussion, and what directive, from who?, they have to inforce a ban. This is a meta-discussion on the site itself, not a political discussion - so it should be OK. I don't know if Ion was banned or not - I bet only a small minority here believe that he should have been, if he was. WE WANT ION! Another explanation is that, after being slammed pretty hard in the last discussion, he has withdrawn to a hole and pulled the cover over. That is what I would have done, but I hope, as I have always claimed, that Ion is tougher than I am.
