I am coming to DC next week staying at the Hay Adams on 16th and H. I can only swim on Thursday morning and am having a very difficult time finding a suitable place to swim. I would love some suggestions of pools at least 25 yds long and under 84 degrees. I don't mind taking the metro or a cab.
I appreciate any help.

I hope your email address works, cuz I just sent you a note that might help.
now, it's been a few years for me...but when I worked in DC, I worked in Georgetown, and found a pool very close to the law firm Wilmer Cuttler and Pickering. In fact I was able to walk right across the street during lunch. If you'll be in Georgetown, I recommend finding that pool--as it was terrific, and very simple. There was an entire pool dedicated for lap swimming. Although I don't remember the name of the pool, it is on 25th and M street, just behind the building of Wimer Cutler & Pickering.
Lizzie,
I swim at the National Capital YMCA at 17th and Rhode Island Ave, which is very close to where you are staying (the YMCA is just north of 17th and M streets, probably 1/4 mile from your hotel). The pool there is 25 meters, 6 lanes, and the water is usually in the low 80s (82-83 is common). The facility opens at 5:30 am, and the guest fee is $8 for a YMCA away member and $15 for others; however, your hotel might have a pass for the YMCA as several hotels in the area do. You'll get access to all the facilities, not just the pool.
I would offer to meet you up for a workout on Thursday morning, but I will be on travel myself from June 23-26 - luckily, I'll be in Los Alamos, NM where there is a great pool and I can even get in some altitude training!
Enjoy DC
