Shower rule

Our pool closed twice in the last month for filtration issues. The pool was so cloudy, you could barely see your way through the lane. It still is cloudy, hence, management has put up some very stringent shower rules, which, of course, are not enforced by the guards. Needless to say, people still get in without showering, do not wear caps even with long hair, etc. Does anyone know if there is a law that showers must be taken prior to entering pools? Seems to me that if management is going to go through the motions of posting rules, and threatening membership cancellation, they should enforce it. If I really thought about what people who don't shower bring into the pool, I would never swim. :D

I forgot where i had seen/used them -- a spray of water all across the exits of the locker rooms into the pool area made sure all at least got wet. Why not all pools use this is a question. I've never seen that! How about a narrow corridor that mimics the car washes? 4 super hot jets on each side!
  • Can any one do or want to do a 50 state check to see how many "require" a shower before entering the pool? Orca - NOT required here in Illinois. We have a lot of "suggestions" in our state, but that isn't even one of them.
  • And while we are in rant mode ------ ALL the parents of kids swimming are allowed to walk on deck to sit in chairs with the same shoes they walked thru the goose/ duck poop outside to get into the pool!!! This is almost unbelievable that they do this and no one other than me says anything to them!! I have issues with persons who wear those "swim shoes" from outside the pool facility and walk directly into a pool for water activities.

Years ago I had the chance to swim in the Mizzou (Univ. of Missouri) pool. This was their old pool, not the current one. They had a very strict rule that every swimmer had to shower, with soap, before entering the pool. The showers in the locker rooms were the group showers, with one large area with multiple shower heads. To enforce the rule, they had an employee stationed in the shower area and the employee's job was to watch everyone take a shower, with soap, and to not let them into the pool if they hadn't done so. Wow, that would never fly here on the East Coast!

  • In Illinois we need to "wash our politicians" cuz they are dirtbags!!!

Wonder when that was? I swam there as a college swimmer for a few dual meets and once for conference championships, and we didn't have to shower before we got in, there sure as heck wasn't a shower monitor eyeballing everybody either!
