Shower rule

Our pool closed twice in the last month for filtration issues. The pool was so cloudy, you could barely see your way through the lane. It still is cloudy, hence, management has put up some very stringent shower rules, which, of course, are not enforced by the guards. Needless to say, people still get in without showering, do not wear caps even with long hair, etc. Does anyone know if there is a law that showers must be taken prior to entering pools? Seems to me that if management is going to go through the motions of posting rules, and threatening membership cancellation, they should enforce it. If I really thought about what people who don't shower bring into the pool, I would never swim. :D
  • I forgot where i had seen/used them -- a spray of water all across the exits of the locker rooms into the pool area made sure all at least got wet. Why not all pools use this is a question.

Wow, reading this thread is cracking me up. I can't say that I've ever thought of most of these things that people are ooked out about. The only thing that's ever really grossed me out was once when I was swimming at an LA Fitness several years ago. A man got in and started doing laps and there became this huge stink of garlic looming on the water. I could seriously smell him when I passed him. Had to get out. Or the people that enter the aquatic area literally bathed in perfume/cologne. I never used to think about these things until I got "older." In addition to being an exercise addict, I have become a bit of a germaphobe. If I really think too much about it, I'd never swim. :afraid:

I remember when my summer team had to switch from the out door pool (50 M) to the indoor pool (25 y) because of weather. Literally blinding amounts of suncreen and you could just smell it in the air. Ewww
  • And how about the women who get in the pool with earrings and chains on? Finders keepers. :)
  • Years ago I had the chance to swim in the Mizzou (Univ. of Missouri) pool. This was their old pool, not the current one. They had a very strict rule that every swimmer had to shower, with soap, before entering the pool. The showers in the locker rooms were the group showers, with one large area with multiple shower heads. To enforce the rule, they had an employee stationed in the shower area and the employee's job was to watch everyone take a shower, with soap, and to not let them into the pool if they hadn't done so. I guess there are worse things than swimming in a cloudy pool. Making your living as a shower inspector may be one of them.
  • I've never seen that! How about a narrow corridor that mimics the car washes? 4 super hot jets on each side! I may never leave the doorway!
  • Can any one do or want to do a 50 state check to see how many "require" a shower before entering the pool?
  • I may never leave the doorway! You might think twice if they hit you with the rotating brushes. :) www.youtube.com/watch
