Shower rule

Our pool closed twice in the last month for filtration issues. The pool was so cloudy, you could barely see your way through the lane. It still is cloudy, hence, management has put up some very stringent shower rules, which, of course, are not enforced by the guards. Needless to say, people still get in without showering, do not wear caps even with long hair, etc. Does anyone know if there is a law that showers must be taken prior to entering pools? Seems to me that if management is going to go through the motions of posting rules, and threatening membership cancellation, they should enforce it. If I really thought about what people who don't shower bring into the pool, I would never swim. :D

  • Years ago I had the chance to swim in the Mizzou (Univ. of Missouri) pool. This was their old pool, not the current one. They had a very strict rule that every swimmer had to shower, with soap, before entering the pool. The showers in the locker rooms were the group showers, with one large area with multiple shower heads. To enforce the rule, they had an employee stationed in the shower area and the employee's job was to watch everyone take a shower, with soap, and to not let them into the pool if they hadn't done so. Wonder when that was? I swam there as a college swimmer for a few dual meets and once for conference championships, and we didn't have to shower before we got in, there sure as heck wasn't a shower monitor eyeballing everybody either!
