Just thought I would start a thread which didn't have deep philosophical overtones so that we all can have fun with the new forum software. Based upon personal experience, I will start a list of “You know you are a swimmer when …” with the following:
You know you are a swimmer when you leave work in the rain and you can smell the chlorine coming off of your hair.
Anyone care to add to the list?

You know you are a swimmer when some one walks up to you in a shopping mal and says are you George Park - " I didn't recognize you with your clothes on."
Wow. This thread seems to come back from the dead now and again.
You know you are a swimmer when you haven't been in the water for a while and, after going for a swim, the next morning you enjoy the smell of chlorine when you take a shower.
you are seriously thinking of attending a swim workout at your team from 25 years ago (which now has a master's section) a few hours after a 15 hour overnight, transatlantic, 2-flight journey. Kill or cure for the jet-lag I guess?
You know you're (an ever-so-slightly-obsessive) swimmer when you have a spreadsheet with every one of your workouts detailed (including ones from the 1980's), and 32 graphs of your performance in workouts and meets over time.
15 or so workout back into training you are already doing 400 IMs (helped out by having to do it in a 20 yard pool - that extra turn helps with the fly leg.) :)
You know you are a swimmer when some one walks up to you in a shopping mal and says are you George Park - " I didn't recognize you with your clothes on."
I get "Oh! You're pretty?"
...even though there's a gunman on the loose on the campus where you swim, you (and all of your teammates) complete your workout anyway.

We're either crazy or really dedicated (probably both). :)

I recall another crime related swim post recently, here it is: U.S. Masters Swimming Discussion Forums - View Single Post - Swim Rant
