Hi, I am going to be in my first swim meet in a few decades. Goggle design has completely changed since I last competed back in the olden days. I tried diving in with my goggles and could not get them to stay on. They actually stayed on my eyes with the suction, but the straps kept dropping to my ears. I don't think they would stay on through the race with no straps. Any advice? I've already tried:
Tightening them till my eyeballs were about to pop off
Adjusting the position of the straps on my head a dozen times
A couple different types of goggles.
Any suggestions of goggles that tend to work better for diving off a starting block? Or tips on how to position goggles so they're least likely to fall off?
Thanks!
Or just wear your goggles under a single cap. This works, too.
I have been doing this since I ate my goggles at Nat Senior Games in 2003 with no problems.
