He was referring to Worlds, not Masters Worlds. I never even realized that before, but he's correct. Worlds has never been in the U.S. I see the 2017 event will be in Guadalajara, Mexico. That will be just the second time the event has been in North America (the other being Montreal in 2005).
Afterthought: Since their inception in 1973, the FINA World Championships have never been held in the US. It is therefore tempting to assume that the Masters World Championships will never again be held in the US, and will always require international travel. Montreal is as close as it's ever gonna be.
