How do you finish a breaststroke race?

When you finish do you keep your stroke the same and short stroke into the wall, or do you adjust and try to finish extended? What is faster? For turns I think the answer is to adjust going in to set up a better turn, but for finishes, not so sure.

Ok, all kidding aside. I have seen elite swimmers just short stroke the finish rather than adjust the last three strokes. Wondering what's fastest. I guess what's fastest is not having to adjust and still finishing in an extended position!
