World Championships - Lane Bias

ekw posted this on the Barcelona thread but I thought I'd "bump" it to a new thread to give it more exposure. Fascinating findings about potential bias at World Championships reported by Swimming World: www.swimmingworldmagazine.com/.../35601.asp www.swimmingworldmagazine.com/.../35604.asp In a nutshell, it is suggested there was a current in the pool that gave some lanes an unfair advantage in the 50s. Maybe some end lanes are not so bad after all ;)

As someone commented, though, it could potentially factor into a race of any length. Imagine in a 100. I think I'd rather 'fight' the current on the first 50 rather than the second. Yeah, definitely. I just don't like 50s. :D The 1500 splits in the article are more interesting to me.
