I did not know that USMS does not belong to USADA. Rumor mill speculates that a percentage (small? large?) of masters records (FINA, USMS) were set by athletes on performance enhancing drugs (PEDs).
I believe USMS has rules and regulations regarding conduct of its members. I think we should follow them with common sense and compassion. If Armstrong desires to compete in USMS meets and someone or some other agency thinks he should not be allowed to compete then we should utilize the procedures in place to properly determine the issue. To blindly follow the decisions of others would be wrong. If a decision has to be made USMS should hear all the facts and make its own decision.
If all they want is his guilt answered under oath & then he is allowed to swim , then let it happen. He did not do his doping in swimming.
Plus the doping occurred a long time ago.
Thank you, Ande, for telling Rain Man exactly what I was thinking. Masters swimming has been a life-changing experience for me that has made these past three years so much happier for me. "...health, enjoyment, and friendship." EXACTLY! :applaud::bliss:
It's great to hear that, Elaine.
Life's too short to get upset by internet trolls, especially one who apparently doesn't see the inherent irony in complaining that some masters swimmers take meets too seriously.

I have been back to masters swimming for almost three years. I am eternally grateful to the one who gave me the push I needed to get back in the water. That said....I love it!!! I am so glad I am there. I do compete and do not find the meets to be a charade. Just a wonderful place to be with others who love the water as much as I do. As I have gotten better I have become more competitive, and have set some goals for myself. I have made so many good friends, made such an improvement to both my physical and mental well- being. I wouldn't change a thing. It is a :banana:big part of my life now.
Where else can you be entered into a meet, and the stands are the most boisterous for a 82 year old grandmother that just finished a legal 100 fly? USMS rocks!
:woot:
Right. But then Lance enters the meet and, once again, becomes the center of attention. As one of our local DJ's suggested this morning, if he wants to compete again he should buy an X Box and play Halo.
I wholeheartedly agree with Rain man: Masters swimming meets are, like life itself, a ridiculous charade. Then we die.
I hate the idea that Lance Armstrong can swim for masters, but I don't think there is any realistic way to ban bullying jerk liars from the sport. I'll get over it.
