• Very cool. Next should be an option to opt out of receiving the print edition.

  • I have to admit (environmentally incorrect, I know)--I like having print magazines. I don't have a Kindle or iPad for reading and even if I did, there are some things I like to read at bedtime, and since I spend a lot of time at computers (for work as well as enjoyment), I like some times to be "unwired." Plus there's always recycling--and/ or giving old copies to the Y "wellness center" where people sometimes like a magazine to read while on bikes and treadmills (must say that wouldn't be my thing--trying to focus on a workout and also reading just aren't compatible, but different strokes...) However, I do like also having the online version b/c sometimes there's an article I might want to save even after I've recycled the print copy.

  • I agree with FMIF. I spend all day staring at a computer screen. When I get home I have no desire to do it some more. Besides there's nothing like holding a book, magazine or newspaper and reading. Especially just before bedtime. Kind of relaxing.
  • Has anyone been able to get this to work on an Android tablet. I have tried it with mine and it appears to load something, but there is nothing on the screen.

I tried my Kindle Fire HD, which is Android-based. It loads and displays something but the display is a little messed up (doesn't expand to fill the screen). It's usable though. The magazine looks good on my iPhone though, so presumably also on on iPad.

You might be surprised just how "book-like" they are. I had my doubts about them, too, before getting a Kindle a few years ago as a gift. Now I'd only read a print book very grudgingly.
  • Very nice. However, I thought it odd that a UK site is hosting the electronic magazine.

Has anyone been able to get this to work on an Android tablet. I have tried it with mine and it appears to load something, but there is nothing on the screen. I just tried it on a Samsung Galaxy Tab (10.1). The first time I loaded it, it froze after two pages, but the next time it worked pretty much fine. I found it much preferable to trying to read it on the computer screen, though there were some slight distortions to the font. Do you own an e-reader, though? You might be surprised just how "book-like" they are. I had my doubts about them, too, before getting a Kindle a few years ago as a gift. Now I'd only read a print book very grudgingly. e-readers are pretty book-like these days, but at least according to the professional reading in my field, tablets are projected to replace the e-ink readers. I don't find tablets as enjoyable to read on, probably in large part because of all the other distractions available. I'll spare you the diatribe about e-book purchase/use models, particularly where libraries are concerned... unless, of course, any of you are suffering from insomnia.
