Getting my training plan together for Nationals and just wanted to poll others to see what you're doing as comparison. Thinking of periodization - breaking into 6-week training blocks with each one focusing on a particular area (strength, endurance, speed, etc)....Keeping yards in the 4500-6000 range for each workout, 5x week...incorporating some Dry Lands as well. Periodic in-season meets to gauge training. Any thoughts? How are others preparing?
That seems like a lot of yardage for most Masters but again it does depend on what your events are. Make sure you get the most out of these days as you can. Garbage yardage helps no one. The important thing is to make sure you get enough SLEEP the week before Nats. For me at least, that's a huge variable.
