  • Thank you all for explaining circle seeding. I knew that they seeded the last three heats in a "different" way as I have seen it for the Olympics, but I never thought about it or knew it had a name. Thank you for enlightening me!

Master’s World Records on high alert: This year’s Mesa Grand Prix is dual sanctioned by USA Swimming and U.S. Masters Swimming, meaning registered Masters members are eligible to set Masters World Records at the meet. Hunting those records will be such names as Nathan Adrian, Anthony Ervin and Darian Townsend. All three are entered at the U.S. Master’s National Championships in early May, so should be Masters eligible for Mesa. Just a few of the records that could be in jeopardy: •Adrian: 50 free age 25-29, 22.59 •Ervin: 50 free age 30-34, 22.13 •Townsend: 200 free age 30-34, 1:53.15*
  • 'don't think I've ever seen that word used before, very cool! It's the kind of word that you've just got to use when the situation presents itself. It's a great word! And I'll add my vote to only ever hearing this kind of seeding referred to as "circle seeding."
  • That was trademarked. You owe me $1 I'll just deduct it from knelson's $5 prize for using antepenultimate correctly and in a sentence. Sorry Kirk, it's only a $4 word now.
  • Way to go David Guthrie! 2:32.28 in the 200 *** at age 53. Is he the oldest ever to compete in a Grand Prix Meet?
  • ... Andrew will destroy his own 100 fr seed time. Unfortunately, not a good guess. He finished 27th with a time half second slower than his seed. And Phelps was, indeed, not in the 100.
  • Unfortunately, not a good guess. He finished 27th with a time half second slower than his seed. We'll see how he does in the finals.
  • Anthony Ervin had one of the worst starts I've ever seen from an elite. Aimost half a body length behind. Definitely kept him out of the A final.
  • Forget 15 year old Michael Andrews… 16 year old Kirsten Jacobsen dropped 18 seconds in her 400 Free to set a new US record of 4:00.01 (fastest enough to make the Men’s A finals):applaud::applaud::applaud:
