Are dome caps faster vs regular caps? And if so, per 50 are we talking hundredths of a seconds or tenths? Im pretty skeptical but have no experience with them.
I have a small head, so latex caps are always wrinkling/ridging up and air bubbling on me. I cant seem to find any that will fit nicely.
Thanks for your input!
Ive used it for some sprint events, really smoothes things down. I have to wear my latex cap underneath because anything made of silicone shoots off my head. I bought the (nike dome) cap last year and will continue to use it for 50s and 100s only. I have a pretty big head for a gal... It does get uncomfortable after having it on for awhile. Couldnt tell you if it has helped my times, havent used it enough. But, you will feel like a bullet when you have it on.

If it was really a .1 reduction in a 50, I'd be all over it. But in my experience, I don't notice any difference (besides they're uncomfortable) YMMV
They're not that expensive, so why not.
I'm driven purely by price with most things. :) I've never tried one of these, and probably never will. Latex cheapo is the way to go for me.
I wonder what would happen if I actually upgraded to something "good" as far as equipment goes (suit, cap, goggles, etc.)???
I personally feel that more of the swimming and speed/endurance comes from how you train (as a sprinter or a distance person) and not by what you can buy...but maybe I'm old school.

My mileage varies. I don't find them any less comfortable than normal caps. The only gripe I have is they don't really stretch like a regular cap so they might not come down as far on the back of your head.
One aspect I like is the durability. These things are thick and it's hard to imagine one ripping. They should last for years.
I wrote about dome caps in SFF Tip 228 V-lieve it or Not on October 31st, 2008 & I've used them ever since they've been available. I think they make a difference. I'm not sure how much of a difference they make, but they allow you to embrace the attitude of "I'm going to do everything legally possible to improve my chance of swimming fast."

If you TRULY believe they make a difference, they make a difference.
