Results: www.clubsonline.com.au/.../index.htm So, this happened: 5 THORPE, IAN 29 SOPAC, NSW 1:50.79 1:49.16B 815 r:+0.77 25.15 51.78 (26.63) 1:19.87 (28.09) 1:49.16 (29.29) I dare say that is a good prelim time. Also, Huegill is looking strong in the semis of my favorite non-Olympic event: 1 HUEGILL, GEOFFR 33 SOPAC, NSW 23.74 23.58 860

During Gary Hall Jr.'s chat session yesterday I asked him what he thought about Ian Thorpe's comeback attempt. To paraphrase, he said he gives him props for trying, but Ian's gotten slower while everyone else has gotten faster. He said he had the feeling even Ian didn't really think he was going to make it. I think he's right about this. I got the impression Ian thinks he got back in the pool a little too late to get back to where he needed to be. I do hope Ian keeps at it and make Worlds next year. Wasn't he training for over a year? That's a lot of time to train for the 100 free, and Thorpe has a history of being very fast in the 100. I think his coach just failed to prepare him properly.
