I was looking at Go The Distance and there are people who have swum 50-60 miles in the first 11 days of the year. I'm curious what they are doing.

I assumed most high mileage people were open water specialists, particularly someone training for a big one (like ggridley's program).
On the other hand, Rowdy Gaines trains 8000 yards a day which would take him to ~1650 miles/year.

He states that his yardage is 20% warmup, 20% kicking, 20% sprint sets, and the remainder on interval training.
