I imagine it's doable if you put in doubles and swim 4-5000 yards per workout.
If my goal was purely distance I think I'd choose to do one really long workout rather than doubles. 8K per workout is doable if you're doing primarily long, easy distance. You can do 4,000 yards in an hour if you hold an average pace of 1:30 per hundred. Probably not real exciting, but doable!
