UT has fired JT today, after 23 years of leading the Vols. The AD gave the reason as "gross misconduct."
www.swiminfo.com has the story.
JT has coached Melvin Stewart, Jeremy Linn, Tripp Schwenk and others to olympic medals in his yeas as a coach.
People are not always who they appear to be.
No one would have ever suspected that my AG coach was a child molester (not me, but a friend of mine. Even married her mom to get to her.)
I think he is a despicable human being for what he did to her, however I also remember all of the wonderful things he did to foster my love of swimming, and the great team he built in the early 1980s.
This is the human condition, good and bad. No one, no matter their accomplishments, is immune.
In trying to digest events, people can recognize the same facts, but choose to see the glass as half-empty or half-full. Again, this is the human condition. To be sure, though, this is a devastating situation for many.
