I'm shopping for a "last chance" meet for the 2012 SCY season. It should be,
After SCY nats, but before the end of the SCY season. That pretty much means one of the four weekends in May, either May 7-8, May 14-15, May 21-22, or May 28-29.
A well-run, larger meet, with plenty of rest between events, in an excellent, indoor (backstroke-friendly) pool.
Somewhere in the US (of course, SCY = US), but it does not necessarily have to be in the continental US. If there's an excellent meet in Alaska or Hawaii, it could be considered.
In a nice, vacation-worthy destination. And that does not necessarily rule out Texas! We are openminded! There are interesting things to see almost everywhere, even in Texas!
This is the first time I'm looking outside my immediate neighborhood, so I'm not at all familiar with the excellent meets outside of my zone. I am sure they are there, I'm just unaware.
Any suggestions? Thanks!
Colella's 5:04.54 seemed awfully fast to me, so I looked it up, and yeah, that was a world record ... by over 18 seconds!
Rick Colella had a very good meet indeed: four events, four world records. They are out there! Is this a great sport, or what?
