wonder how much better the suit is and what the improvements are?

The new high waisted Speedo suits remind me that after the suit ban I pitched a high waisted suit for men concept to both Speedo and B70 based on the theory that the more coverage the better, the new rules allowed it and, especially for masters, it would enable us to contain the floppy love handle area. I even (tongue-in-cheek) named it "The Record Waister". I noted we'd all have to get used to the new look, but if boxers can get away with it why not swimmers. Guess who got totally blown off. I still believe in the design concept. Now George, get on the stick and get those Yingfa folks to come up with their own high waisted suits for $50 or so.
And $400 for a frickin' jammer!!! Crazy nuts on that one too!! :bitching:
Definitely. I find the whole thing offensive and I hope the product line flops big time.

My concern.... the compression in those suits made even Phelps look like he was starting to bulge at the waistline. Kind of scared of what it would do to me. I'm not going to look silly for $400. For $50, I'll think about it. But I'll bet George could get them to us for $40.

And also, it doesn't matter what kind of suit you're wearing. If you don't put in the time training, the suit won't do anything.
it's surprising to me that there's such a price gap between the
$395 JAMMER FASTSKIN3 SUPER ELITE HIGH WAISTED and the
$260 JAMMER FASTSKIN3 SUPER ELITE
That is a classic marketing trick, making the expensive item much more than the regular one. What they really want to do is sell more of the $260 suits to people who say "wow! I'll save $135!"
I keep picturing some exec sitting in an office wondering how to make people spend more money on caps and goggles when there's a glut of them that work perfectly well in the $10 and under range.
it's surprising to me that there's such a price gap between the

The $260 is just elite not super elite...
I've been analyzing the issue of increasing speed VS cost and spending money on an expensive suit really isn't a good return on investment.
The best way to increase speed at the lowest cost is to use web gloves and they sell for only about $16.00:

So why doesn't FINA just approve the use web gloves and accept the new world's records as being valid like those set using tech suits? :agree:
CD
So having a belly-button positioned high on the abdomen, and a mild amount of compressible love handles can dictate a swimmers average/top speed. Not much different when considering why someone was born with more athletic ability than me.
If I had the budget I would easily order $400 jammers, but the goggles :afraid:
