1,000,000 yards!

This year has been the first year of my three swimming so far that I've kept a log of my yardage. I didn't realize it at the time, but in doing the math this late night/early morning, I crossed 1,000,000 yards on Wednesday, November 16th. It happened sometime during my early morning workout at Santa Clara Swim Club, probably at the exact same moment I was resting at the wall and the flying hand of the hapless lady I shared a lane with whacked my nose! My nose was sore for the rest of the day. These are my totals per month: Jan: 100,700 Feb: 106,750 Mar: 110,350 Apr: 121,840 May: 68,261 Jun: 106,948 Jul: 79,725 Aug: 50,950 Sep: 107,100 Oct: 63,850 Nov: 111,000 (so far) Has anyone else crossed a million yards this year? Getting close?

  • Has anyone else crossed a million yards this year? Getting close? I'm at 935,819y right now so I should make it. My goal is 600 miles for the year (50 a month avg) and I am right at the proper pace for that. At one point during the year I had the goal of being a "million meter man" (which sounds pretty cool) and I was way ahead of pace after the summer, but work and family have seriously cut into my training this fall so I don't think I'll make it. I second the recommendation for "Go the Distance," which can be connected to the FLOG. The FLOG is a pretty convenient way to track training and it will tell you if you are on track to make your goal. I think you can go here to sign up: http://www.usms.org/myusms/
