I just got a Finish Tempo trainer and was surprised to find out how loosely it fits on the clip that it comes with. I mean, it will definitely fall out of the clip with almost no effort.
Did I get a defective unit or is this a "feature"?
If I use one, I put it underneath a cap. It should fit securely and the beeping is audible.
I don't keep it in the entire practice, as that would get annoying, but it is a very useful tool. We've done sets where the idea is to keep the stroke rate exactly the same, but speed up by lengthening the stroke. Then, increase the stroke rate and keep the number of strokes per lap the same, and so on. It is also helpful when you want to time yourself for a distance and even split the swim -- you've done it right if your feet hit the wall at the beep.
