Next Friday is the last day to get your entries in for Greensboro. So, what do you think the attendance will be (of swimmers, that is)? Closest guess gets a :chug: or :wine: from me. Or, for those Forumites who would rather pass on that offer (I am well aware of who you are...), bragging rights. By the way, I still owe Patrick (PWB) for winning last time!
My guess, since this is 2012: 2012 :D
1825 is my guess. Well, that is until people realize Geek hasn't showered, shaved, brushed his tooth, or changed his underwear is several months. Then my guess will be 7. The starter, two timers, turn judge, lifeguard, head referee, and geek)
:afraid: :bolt:
:D
And, pessimistic! Only 1650? :bouncing:
I wasn't debating about the attendance number. It was as the reference to the 1650 being the best event ever! That is debatable! I try to swim it once a year only, and this year I split it at the 1000, and cooled down the remainder. :) I'll go for my SCY TT in either the 400 IM or 200 Fly this year. :banana:
================================
And as for the National meet attendance guess: 1977, the year I was born. :applaud:
...oh yeah, and I'm NOT going to be one of them either!
If you look at historical attendance this is not out of line. There have been a couple well attended Nationals in the last few years (Austin, Atlanta, Mesa), but the more out of the way locations tend to draw significantly fewer attendees. Coral Springs had less than 1,300, Federal Way under 1,500, Clovis under 1,600. I consider Greensboro somewhat "out of the way" and I have a feeling many others would, too. I wouldn't be at all surprised if 1,650 turns out to be above the actual attendance.
By the way, Nationals attendance stats can be found here:

Thanks for the link, Kirk. Hmmm, I guess my estimate of 2,012 was quite optimistic! Oh well, I have always been a glass-half-full type. :D
So, will you be one of the west-coasters going?
