Elaine - since you have 1 NQT in the 50 *** you can swim that one...then for your 3 non-NQT events you can do the 100 ***, 200 *** and the 200 Fly!!!
Just a suggestion...I thought it was pretty good. Remember that *** and fly are both short-axis strokes, so they compliment each other. :)
:afraid: :afraid: :afraid: :afraid: :afraid: That, my friend is for your 200 Fly idea! How about a compromise and I settle on 25 fly as part of the 100IM?! :agree: :D
200 fly is where swimmers make a statement about being tough or is it stupid?
I would rather go across the country and swim a 200 fly, 400 IM, or even a 1650 :afraid: for that matter. Why spend hundreds of dollars to go somewhere for a race that lasts less than 23 seconds? Plus I'm pretty good at the 200 fly. I'm not trying to make a statement...I just do it because I can.
I know many others that swim it for the same reason. They may not be incredibly fast at it, but when they are in the mid to upper 70's of age, and swimming the 200 fly on a regular basis in meets...that deserves a big :applaud:.
We have one 76 Female in our workout group that is almost done with 1000 - 1650 flys. Yes that is correct...1000!!! She comes all 5 days a week to practice and swims a 1650 fly every morning to start off her workout. She told me the other day that she only has 20 more or so to go to make the 1000 mile fly mark from whatever date she started. Congratulations to you Peony Munger...:applaud: :party2:
So she warms up with a 1000 FLY ? WOW am I impressed.:applaud:
she warms up with the walk to the deep end...there she dives in and does a 1650 fly...(read the posting above) she does this every morning.
Word. Or the 50 BR...:weightlifter:
Or the 50 back!
The best athletes are sprinters. But I guess if you don't have power and speed, there is the 200 fly and distance free leftover. :)
