Google maps shows me that it's a 1.0mile walk from the Ga Tech hotel to the pool. While I generally trust Google maps, is there anything I should know about the route or any reason I shouldn't walk? For example, is the crossing under I-85 easy to walk?
Trolley, trolley, trolley. I walked to/from the pool at Austin, it was only 3/4 mile but I really regretted it as I could feel the walk in my legs before my races and I really didn't want to walk back after my races.

I was just thinking of walking over to the pool for three reasons:
I'm a control freak and don't want to wait for the trolley,
I always walk a mile each morning anyway, so it won't be out of my routine (except 3 dogs won't be pulling my arms out),
It'll be a slight warmup and a perfect amount of time to let the first hits of caffeine course through me
Recently there have been several people robbed on the outskirts of GA Tech. I wouldn't walk. Take the trolley.
Aren't people robbed at every college campus? Is it notably more unsafe than any other urban school? As long as the robbers aren't in the market for used B70s, shouldn't I be OK at 6:45 in the morning?
The robberies aren't happening AT the school but just outside. And some are pretty nasty. Don't take a chance. Take the trolly.OK. I guess it would kind of suck to get roughed up or worse after putting in all of this training. I'll have plenty of time on Friday morning before my race, but I imagine there'll be quite a queue for the trolley at the main hotel so I don't want to waste my time standing around waiting for the trolley.
