I just finished up day 1 at the PNA champs and I thought it was interesting that they ran even heats and odd heats in different pools. It definitely kept things moving.
Does anyone know if the plan is to do the same next month at Nationals?
If I recall correctly, Fort Lauderdale was using part of the non-stadium pool for some heats of the 1000/1650 back in 05 to help keep those events moving. Not sure if they actually went through with that or not. Coral Springs mentioned the possibility of doing something similar last year (in their salt pool), but that never materialized.
That's right, and swimmers were also allowed to swim both distance races at Ft. Lauderdale. I'm sure the third course was a big factor in the decision to allow this.
And, yes, the Federal Way pool has the main 50 meter tank (divided into two 25 yard courses for the meet), the dive tank which is 25 yards across, and a recreational pool. They need the dive tank for warmup and warmdowns, so two courses is the max they can use for competition.

yes, they did do that at Ft Lauderdale. However, it was actually 3 pools. The stadium 50 meter pool was divided into two courses (even and odd) and the other, usually warmup, pool was used for the distance events. I swam the 1000 in that latter pool and, I believe, the 500 also.
In Federal Way, if my memory serves, there is only 1 50-m pool which will be divided into two parts. So, they will still be one down compared to the 3 used for distance events at Ft Lauderdale.
