I just started swimming masters and this spring will be my first Nationals. It seems there are no 400 medley/free or 800 free relays at Nationals. Can someone please verify this? Does this mean that the National records for these events are set at regular "in season" meets?
Thanks in advance.
Actually there was one USMS National Championship Meet that I recall that offered the 3 relays (400 Free, 400 Medley, 800 Free). The 1997 Long Course Nationals was spread over 5 days and I believe that is the only meet in USMS Championship history to offer these relays.

The age group of a short course yards relay is determined by the age of the youngest swimmer. The others on the relay can be any age. The age groups for SCY relays are 18 and over, 25 and over, 35 and over, 45 and over, 55 and over, 65 and over, 75 and over, continuing in 10 year increments.
For Meters, both short course and long course, the age groups for relays is determined by the sum of the ages of the swimmers. The age sum must fit within the range specified: 72-99, 100-119, 120-159, 160-199, 200-239, continuing in 40 year increments.
The rules regarding Age Groups are found in Article 102.3 of the USMS Rulebook which is available online:http://www.usms.org/rules/
Hope that helps.
I am new to Masters' competitions, so, here is my question: how do relays work according to age? Is it same age groups as individual events or can it be mixed? :dunno:
