John Wayne Airport is the closest to Mission Viejo (Airport is sometimes called Orange County -airline code SNA (for Santa Ana)).
You might want to check prices about flying into Los Angeles International (LAX) it is about 30-40 miles away (my guess), but more airlines fly there so you might get a better deal.
(United wanted over $300 to fly from San Francisco to John Wayne - much better pricing flying to Los Angeles).
