Hi! I've swam a handful of meets at the Hall of Fame pool in Lauderdale and found at a few of them, parking filled up rather quickly. These weren't national meets, or even zone meets when the parking ran out before the meet began. For those driving to the pool, how will the host handle parking? Is there additional parking nearby? It's a pretty hectic area. I'd hate to think it's a case of getting to the meet hours before it starts just to have a place to park!
Thanks for the help
Since there isn't going to be a shuttle service and parking is a problem in Fort Lauderdale I'm wondering if there is any city public transportation along A1A? If so, how often does it run and what are the hours of operation?
There is plenty of public parking within 1 block of the Fort Lauderdale Aquatic Complex, right by the Las Olas bridge there are at least 1000 spaces. There is also another public lot on the corner of Las Olas & Seabreeze. The Aquatic Complex lot is small and will be reserved for officials, etc..Parking is not a problem at the other areas mentioned.
There is public bus transportation that runs down AIA but you would have to check their schedule. Try Broward County Public Transportation on the web.

Debbie,
Do you mean one mile rather than one block? I don't remember a bridge within a block of the pool.
Speaking of Nationals, could you talk to Stu or whoever is organizing the venue and see if it is possible to have a designated sprint lane in the 20 lane warm up pool. This would be nice for those of us too lazy to wake up for the warm up in the competion pool.
Thanks
Hi Rich,
No not 1 mile, 1 block. It is just north of the Doubletree. About 500 feet. The parking is at Las Olas & Seabreeze which is 1 block north of the pool. The bridge is called the Las Olas bridge.
There is also another city lot on the oppisite corner. Both of these lots are across from the Quarter deck. One is on the northwest corner the other on the South east corner.
I will ask about the sprint lane.
Debbie
Please read the posts before you. I have lived in Ft. Lauderdale since 1982. I swim at the Ft. Lauderdale Aquatic Complex everyday.
Once again, the lot at the pool fills up very quickly & it will be used for VIP's & Officials.
There are at least 3 lots within 1 block of the pool. One lot holds 1000, the other 2 lots hold less.
There are also 2000 hotel rooms within walking distance of the pool.

Hey Rich, does this mean if I go to the meet I'll finally get to see you again? I hope so, it's been a while. Can't wait to see you along with alot of others, it's been too long........................
