With a short work week and having eaten too much junk over Christmas its bugging me. SO...I thought that maybe this week I'd just do 100 x 100 outta the blue maybe on Wednesday AM or Thursday AM. I train alone so it will put me to the test just to see if I can focus for 120-180 minutes and stick to it.
So I'm looking for some advice on how to break them up. Obviously the first 10-20 will be warm-up, build at most. So I'm thinking something like this....feel free to add/suggest more. I'm just pulling this out of my ass.
1-10 Warm-up @ 2:00
11-20 Kick @ 2:00
21-30 Pull @ 1:30
31-40 Free @ 1:20 (hold 1:10's)
41-50 IM @ 1:45
5-10 Minute Food/Drink Break
51-60 Kick w/ Fins @ 1:40
61-70 Odds: Stroke @ 1:40 Evens: Drill @ 1:40
71-80 Pull w/ Paddles & Snorkel
81-90 IM Order/Free by 25's @ 1:45
and to finish it off:
91-100 Hold Best Avg. @ 1:30
I had two opportunities to swim 100xN over the past few days. On 12/31 I swam 100x50 with the local YWCA masters team. They organize it as more of a workout (12x50 of this, then 8x50 of that, etc) so the intervals vary. On 1/2 the Evanston Masters did 100x100, with lanes from 1:30/100 to (I think) 2:20/100. I swam in the 1:40 interval lane through 60, then hopped over to the 1:30 lane for a few. I quickly realized I wasn't going to get enough rest (!!!) then hopped back to the 1:40 lane, but the damage was done. I got out at 80. I'm sure I could have made 100, but I wasn't all that interested in testing my limits. Still, I was fairly wiped yesterday. Went to practice and did a pretty easy 2000 just to loosen up...
