Anyone had results with Land training alone?

Due to a change in circumstances at work I'm struggling to get to more than 1 practise(1hr) a week in the water. I'm in the gym 3 times a week anyway and can continue to do this (strength/power weights) which is in the mornings. What I need to start doing is training like a 200/400 track sprinter (to be swimming 50/100s) which I can do on the street in the mornings. This is really my only option! But the question is, Has anyone maintained their times when changing from training 4/5 times a week in the pool to just 1?
