New Swimmer Workouts

Hi, I'm pretty new to swimming. I've been swimming for about 2 months and have improved tremendously since I first started. I've learned a lot from reading the forums and blogs on this site. I don't really know how to structure my workouts or what's a reasonable distance for me to swim at this point. My workouts vary from day to day, but here's a sample workout from today. I started with 400m of *** stroke....then I did 400m of various kicks. I have been working on my flutter kick and dolphin kick. After that I did 400m of (50m *** stroke/50m free style). Then I did 400m of (100m *** stroke/100m free style). That is a total of 1600m. I've been paying attention to different aspects of my free style while I'm swimming...I no longer feel like I'm going to drown ;) I also lifted weights...3 back exercises and 2 chest exercises. If anyone has some ideas of workouts (or just general advice) for new swimmers I'd love to hear them. Thanks! -choo
