I just recently picked up swiming to trying and get in shape, I'm swimming 2-3 times a week normally and 1 run per week. I've read in a lot of threads the importance of stomach strength. Does anyone have any reccomendations on getting rid of love handles and lower belly baby fat?

  • I've read in a lot of threads the importance of stomach strength. The stomach is a saclike organ, part of the digestive system. It connects the esophagus to the small intestine. It is located on the left side of the body, under the diaphragm. It is not "fat." You do not swim on it, sleep on it, or lie on it. tbn0.google.com/images Perhaps you mean core strength? Abdominal strength? Belly muscle strength? Try a ferocious step class to get rid of pudge. Or one of these classes:  A little more generously: whatever you're doing by way of exercise, keep doing it, looking especially for movements that target lower body. Add a few crunches a few times a day. I like (well, "like" is probably not operative term) to do them right after swimming. Speedwalking, burpees, stairclimbing -- all kinds of things will help. When swimming, try to feel the core engaged in, for example, rotating body and initiating movements. Regards, VB
