Swim or Weights First?

First thread so go easy on me! Forgive me if this has been asked before, but I was wondering if it is better to swim before you do weights or vice versa? :dunno:

  • Except for a couple of weeks while at the University of Texas, I always lift weights before I swim, for the reasons listed above. It is easier to use the swim warmup to recover from weights than to use a weight workout to recover from a swim workout. But, for a couple of weeks at Texas, we lifted afterward, just to see how it would work, as in making our muscles lift the usual weight with some fatigue already in them. It was very hard and we were all broken down for weeks afterward. Lifting before is better.
